WHO I AM AND WHAT I DO

My Background

Alison Crawford

BSc (Hons), Lic Ac, MBAcC

I am dedicated in helping my patients move through a wide range of physical and emotional changes in the most beneficial way possible using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Five Elements Style Acupuncture.

I first became interested in Acupuncture when a friend suggested I try it for pain relief of Plantar Fasciitis and after just one treatment my pain and ultimately my problem was resolved! This is obviously not always the case and chronic conditions can take longer to sort out, but I was hooked.

I was fascinated by how acupuncture works and the many benefits it was giving me both mentally and physically.

I decided to leave my career as a Business Analyst and to study at the highly acclaimed College of Integrated Chinese Medicine. on a full time 3 1/2 year degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Five Elements Acupuncture ultimately achieving a BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture.

Treatment is designed to affect the whole person, so, as the condition being treated improves, patients may notice other health issues resolving and an increased feeling of wellbeing. I have a particular interest in how acupuncture can potentially improve the mental wellbeing of individuals from anxiety to low mood.

Treatments offered may include life style and dietary advice along with using techniques such as Cupping, Guasha, Moxibustion and Electroacupuncture.

As a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) who I am also fully insured through too, I strictly adhere to its Codes of Professional Conduct and Safe Practice, meeting the requirements of current legislation and best practice for the safety of patients. I am registered with West Berkshire Council's Licensing and Safety Department.
